SPITFIRE Class A Fire Fighting Foam Concentrate and Wet
Water

• Spitfire is a balanced combination of synthetic surfactants designed to
  enhance the performance of water on burning Class A materials such as wood,
  paper, textiles and cardboard.


• Although water can absorb 600 calories per gram (9500BTU / gal), a
  straight stream in a fire attack can be less than 10% effective.


• One of the primary reasons for this is that the relatively high surface
  tension of water (73 dynes/cm) prevents it from spreading well or sticking to
  the burning material.


• When proportioned at rates between 0.1% and 0.5%, Spitfire will reduce the
  surface tension of water to around 25 dynes/cm.


• The resulting smaller water particles will penetrate the Class A fuel more
  effectively and readily absorb heat.
